Abadia Caldaria

Breakfast was varied and high quality, and parking is available. The hotel is close to Ribadavia, which is handy for sightseeing or going out for lunch or dinner. It’s a charming country hotel in a former abbey, well suited to a restful break. The rooms are attractive and well cared for. There’s no reception desk: you check in with a code and pick up the key from a personal lockbox.

The setting and the hotel are both spectacular. The rooms were very clean, and breakfast was really good. The one issue was that neither the air conditioning nor the refrigerator worked.

The river path near the building is nice for an easy walk. There’s also a Minho River boat trip that takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, costs 17 euros per adult, and needs to be booked ahead. Parking is very close by. We were four people staying for an October weekend. The building was beautiful, and the inside was lovely too. Though no hotel staff were there at check-in, someone called a few days beforehand to help make sure everything would go smoothly. We had no trouble checking in on the day. Our room had a lovely view, and the stars were beautiful at night. It was completely quiet despite other guests being there, so we slept well. In the morning we could hear birds singing. The temperature in the room felt just right, and the spacious bathroom and unexpectedly nice bathtub were a treat. Breakfast was satisfying, with plenty of sweet and savory choices as well as fruit.

Comfortable, clean rooms in a quiet village just five minutes from Ribadavia. A lovely spot to unwind.
