The kitchen had everything we needed, and the beds were comfortable. Since only a few people were staying, there was plenty of room and we could pick our own beds. Right in the city center, this albergue has a lovely pilgrim feel. The woman who welcomed us was so warm and took time to explain things, share useful local information, and offer tips for the next stages. The showers are downstairs from the dorms, which was actually handy because we didn’t disturb anyone. We felt really at home here, thank you! :)

Check under the mattress, there are bedbugs in the hostel. A friend had already reported them earlier that same day, then moved to another hostel, but the woman at reception told arriving guests none had been reported. The owner seems negligent about the problem. (a bedbug)

It’s a very nice, new albergue, which makes this all the more disappointing. I stayed the night of September 10-11 and got bitten by bedbugs while I slept. In the morning, other pilgrims in the kitchen said they’d seen them too, and I found lots of bites on my body.

The town is beautiful and right by the sea, and there are enough restaurants around if you’d rather eat out. The hostel itself feels made for pilgrims, with a great atmosphere, thoughtful details, and really unusual decor. The kitchen is well equipped too. This is the best hostel we’ve stayed at so far on the camino, and most importantly, I slept so well!!!

Fernando made the stay feel personal. He was kind, attentive, and upbeat, and went out of his way to arrange a massage with a physiotherapist and luggage transport for me. His suggestions for places to stay and tips on the next stretch of the route were a huge help. Albergue O Peirao is also clean, comfortable, and peaceful, with everything I needed and a great location. More than just somewhere to sleep, it felt like a real haven for pilgrims, thanks to Fernando’s care.
