Hotel Costa Mar

Only passed by. Didn't really form an opinion.

We needed a room for just one night after a problem with our accommodation, and the staff were helpful at first. The room itself was clean and nice. Things changed when we asked for proof of payment: we'd paid cash because they requested it, and needed at least a receipt. After repeated requests they eventually gave us a badly written handwritten note. The owner made negative comments, and they refused to provide a complaint form.

Working remotely in the mornings was surprisingly comfortable here, and I still remember the coffee Cesar lovingly made while I worked early. The owners, Cesar and Ami, were attentive and made us feel at home. The rooms were simple, but so clean and comfortable, and the bed and pillows were unbelievably plush. We had lost our Airbnb reservation in another place in Cambados a week before the trip, then booked this hotel at the last minute after a bank error canceled it. Maybe it was fate, because we found a lovely place in a great strategic location. We'll be back.

Foxos beach can be pretty rough at high tide, but it's fantastic at low tide. The room felt dated and very basic, though it was clean, with a small balcony and blinds that kept out the dawn light. The sunset views were lovely. Breakfast costs extra and is simple, just toast or cake, though inexpensive. There isn't bar or café service later in the day, but bars and restaurants are nearby.
