Sanxenxorural - Apartamentos La Rana

I’d booked a holiday in the Algarve for the second half of August, but the owner cancelled three days before we were due to arrive because of a leak in the house. I searched in several places along the Portuguese coast without luck, as we’re an older couple travelling with our pets. Then Tino and “La Rana” came through and agreed to host us, humans and animals alike, in one of his apartments. He welcomed us with a smile and such good humor, showing real courtesy and professionalism. He also gave us tips that only someone who knows the municipality of Sanxenxo so well could offer. We stayed in apartment R-4. It was simple, clean, and had all the basic comforts, good sunlight, and a panoramic balcony where you could reflect or daydream while watching the sunset. Away from the bustle of central Sanxenxo, “La Rana” offers peace, fresh air, and nature, along with the manager’s youthful spirit and helpfulness. I highly recommend the LA RANA apartments! It’s worth meeting Tino, who, as they say in Galicia, is “un home caralludo!” Thank you so much, my friend Tino!

The living room and bedroom are large, and the owner is friendly and gives helpful suggestions about where to go. But it’s very basic. Don’t expect shower gel, shampoo, napkins, paper towels, a decent knife, or much else like that. The beds aren’t made either, you have to find the sheets and do it yourself. Having just one set of keys is stressful. You need them to leave the building, so if one person goes out for bread, everyone else is locked in. I don’t even want to think about what would happen in a fire. The beach is a 10-minute walk away, and there’s a cliff nearby.

I hardly ever write reviews since people all have their own opinions, but Apartamentos La Rana deserves a good one for the place, its location, and especially the person running it. Tino was incredibly kind and helpful from the day we arrived, doing everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. We said goodbye with real affection, as you would to a friend, and we’re sure we’ll meet again. We’d love to see you again, Tino, with or without Perla, our dog.
