Hostal San Andres

Everything else was fine, but I can’t give it five stars because the bathroom had no water apart from the shower and sink. They could also do a better job cleaning the bathroom with inexpensive products.

None of us slept properly, since we had to improvise with whatever spare rooms we could find. We’re still waiting to speak to the accommodation, and we hope they refund our reservation. Otherwise, our whole group is prepared to take whatever legal action we think is appropriate. There were seven of us and we’d booked several rooms. At night, we opened one room and switched on the light, only to find a couple asleep inside. We couldn’t reach the accommodation at all, which wasn’t surprising since they don’t answer during the day either. We called Booking.com and the local police to explain and look for a solution. The police came and were astonished that key cards for two different guests opened the same room. I feel bad for the couple we woke up, who I imagine have plenty to say about this too. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

Check-in at the attached restaurant, "Chapparo," worked well, and the bed was very comfortable. They cleaned the room every day, which I honestly didn't expect from a hostel. The room had a tobacco smell, though it was fine with the window open, and I found the hot water schedule a bit annoying. Otherwise, it was a really nice hostel.

The room was so small the bed took up nearly all the space, and at 1.75 meters tall I only just fit on it. There’s no view from the window, which looks onto a courtyard, and the electrical panel buzzes annoyingly. Guests are constantly going to the living room to smoke, sometimes cigars, and the smell keeps drifting into the room. With all the shouting, you can barely hear your own TV. Reception was okay, at the bar 100 meters from the hostel. The street entrance is a glass sliding door that opens automatically, so anyone can walk into the living room. The TV is tiny, and the channels don’t come in well.
