I found bedbugs in the bedroom and contacted the property right away. They said the apartment had already been treated and sterilized, so there shouldn't be any bugs, and suggested my bites didn't look like bedbug bites, despite the bugs being there. On the third day of my seven-night stay, I started developing bites across my body, including my face. They kept appearing through the week, and the reaction was severe enough to disrupt my sleep for more than a week. I had to stop using the bed and sleep on the couch, despite paying for a premium stay. When I asked about a refund or a move to another place, I was told refunds weren't the property's responsibility and I should contact the booking platform. It was Christmas, I couldn't reach anyone there, and I had no choice but to stay all seven nights. Later, older guest comments mentioning a previous bug problem made the whole thing even more concerning. The stay at Luxury 3 Bedroom Perla Del Mar cost €2,374. I had ongoing physical discomfort and lost a lot of sleep, plus extra expenses for repeated laundry, preventative measures and medical treatment. My Christmas holiday and planned time away were ruined. More than a week after getting home, I'm still treating the bites and itchiness. The property offered just €150, nowhere near the cost or impact, and I've had no meaningful compensation or apology. For a place advertised as “luxury,” the lack of support and responsibility over a serious hygiene issue was unacceptable. I strongly advise future guests to avoid it. I'd like the host to reply publicly and explain how this was handled and why so little support was offered.
