The Villas at Bahia del Duque

We came in January for some rest and relaxation, and it delivered. The hotel was clean and lovely, the rooms were great, and the food was out of this world at reasonable prices. The restaurants were happy to serve wine by the glass instead of steering us toward the priciest bottle. I’d read a few comments about rude staff, but that wasn’t our experience at all, everyone was willing to help. I can see why it’s counted among the best hotels in the world. We’ll definitely return!

I found proper peace and relaxation here from the moment I arrived. I spent hours wandering around, seeing every bridge, staircase, and corner, and each one felt unique. Someone said the place has a soul, and I could feel that. The sunsets from here are breathtaking, too. My room was comfortable and spacious, with a lovely terrace, and I loved the molton brown products in the bathroom. The WiFi worked excellently everywhere. From the pool area you can go straight onto the public beach, which is a real plus. The Spa costs extra, but it’s worth it if you want more privacy and to regenerate your body. Bahia del Duque was an exceptional experience and good value for money. It’s one of my favourite leading hotels properties. Thanks to the whole team for making it memorable ❤️

The pools were our one small disappointment. They were much too cold for a comfortable swim, and it would be great to have at least one heated to a more pleasant temperature. Some plugs in the room didn’t work, and the rooms, while clean and spacious, felt dated in places and could use a refurb. Still, we had a wonderful Christmas stay, mainly because the staff gave us a 5 star experience. Everyone was warm, attentive, and welcoming. The restaurant teams were especially good, with consistently nice food and service. Patrick in Casas Ducales and Luis at the Beach Club deserve a special mention, they were outstanding and made things feel extra special.

I can’t comment on the rooms, as we only came for a massage and the spa circuit. The receptionist, the gentleman at the gate, and the masseuses were all really kind and friendly. My relaxing massage was wonderful, and since it was my first one, I’ll definitely be getting more. The spa was great too. The pool is saltwater and the jets feel lovely. I also tried the sauna and hammam for the first time. They weren’t for me, but I’m glad I gave them a go.
