Hotel Riu Arecas - Adults Only

The place was clean everywhere, including around the pools, and there were plenty of staff working around the hotel. I had a nice time and met some great staff. Check-in included a lovely welcome, and someone took our luggage to the room. I’d asked Tui for a room near the lift, but we couldn’t have been further away. It was on the top floor with a nice view, though all the walking became a struggle after a few days. Just going for breakfast and dinner meant about 3,000 steps, and it’s a very large resort. The beach involves lots of steps, about the equivalent of eight floors to climb back to the hotel, although there is a road. The first beach is dark, then you reach the Sahara sand. The usual massage sellers were annoying. There’s no transport to the beach for anyone who can’t walk. The dining room gets very busy when the hotel is full, but the food was really good. It wasn’t great for disabled guests, with too few tables set up. I was questioned twice when I sat down, which was embarrassing, even though on a busy night the tables seemed to be used by anyone. A woman who’d recently had a knee transplant wasn’t catered for. There were no disabled beds by the pool. There was the usual morning rush for sunbeds, then towels stayed on many of them unused for hours. The loungers were rock hard, and although there were lots of staff, no one seemed to manage the beds left unattended. My only sleep issue was that all the pillows were too high. The soundproofing was poor, and it was very noisy, especially early in the morning. Despite asking many times for a late checkout, the room wasn’t available. Reception didn’t seem very organized, to be honest. There was a basic shower room for people leaving late, but no help with luggage when we left. I’d rate it 7/10. Some things let the hotel down but could be improved easily with good management.

A really chilled, relaxing adults only hotel. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure the stay suited you. The rooms were spacious and clean, food choice was amazing and quality was VG. There were plenty of sunbeds, with lots of varied entertainment too. The White Party was well organized. Thank you.

We’ve stayed here so many times I’ve lost count. It feels like our second home because the staff are so welcoming and wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is perfect, the pool areas are lovely and there are always plenty of sunbeds and clean towels. The bar staff are great and provide good service.

This was our second Easter visit, and we’ve already booked again for summer. We love this hotel. The staff work incredibly hard to make sure guests have a wonderful stay, and the cleaning team keep the whole place immaculate. Our room was spotless. The restaurant food was amazing with loads of choice, and my vegetarian husband was happy. The restaurant staff were just as hardworking and helpful. We really enjoyed the entertainment, especially the boy band, Diamonds (I think that was their name). We never struggled to find sunbeds, but it was disappointing to see people reserve them early and leave them unused for hours. I wish the hotel would do something about that. The location is great, quieter than further along the coast but with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. There’s a lovely promenade, the beach isn’t far, and we used the bus stop outside to visit other places. I’d highly recommend the hotel and can’t wait to come back.
