Lunch is all I can speak to, since we didn’t stay the night. The €9-10 set menu usually has a few dishes to pick from and includes dessert. I’ve found the stews, especially fabada, fantastic. Meat dishes and fried food like the potatoes can be plainer, frozen, or lower quality, and the desserts feel less polished. I think they should be homemade. The service was very good, and the restaurant was perfectly adequate.
There were only three other couples on the terrace when we stopped for lunch, after seeing signs along the Alba route advertising a €9 set menu. We chose fabada and cachopo. The fabada was edible, but the cachopo had a slightly rancid taste and wasn’t good. We were drawn in by the signs, and the menu ended up costing us €10 instead of €9.
There’s a children’s play area about 100 meters away, which makes this a good spot for families, friends, and kids. The staff are very attentive, and the facilities are brand new. The weekend menu is very good quality for €12.
It only has room for 26 people, but it’s a lovely place to eat. The owner is friendly and funny, and there are some fantastic dishes, including amazing macaroni and an incredible cachopo.
The food in the restaurant was delicious, and we loved having wonderful breakfasts out on the terrace. The staff were friendly too. We had four wonderful days at the EL ALBA hostel, in the beautiful village of Soto de Agues, with incredible views along the trail that starts there. WE’LL DEFINITELY BE BACK...this summer.
