Hotel Valentin

We picked Aguilar de Campoo as a convenient stop on our cycling trip, then got a lovely surprise from the beautiful Medieval old town. Just outside the west wall, there’s an old monastery with a detailed self-guided tour. Hotel Valentin made the stay even better. Our room was lovely, had everything we needed, and looked out over a quiet garden. Dinner was tasty, generous, and reasonably priced. The many locals eating there say a lot about the restaurant. Breakfast came with the room and was just as good. The staff also helped us find a secure spot beside the lobby for our bikes.

We were very satisfied and loved the place. It’s very clean, the staff all provide excellent service, and we slept well. The location is handy for the Santander ferry, so we’d use it again as a stop on our travels. I only wish the evening restaurant opened earlier, at 8pm instead of 9pm.

I’ve eaten here three times and still haven’t managed to finish a meal. Twice, I didn’t even get as far as dessert. The daily special is amazing value for both the quality and the amount of food, and the seafood has been excellent. The only letdown was the ossobucco, which was a little dry and overcooked. I’m staying at this hotel for two weeks, and since the menu changes every day, I’ll be having most of my meals here.

The waiters are professional and always in a really good mood. I have lunch at the restaurant with my family nearly every time I visit Aguilar de Campoo, usually once or twice a year. The menu is good and the food is delicious and well prepared. I thoroughly recommend it!
