Eric made our stay special, and my wife and I felt right at home at this Casa Rural while walking the Camino. The dining room and kitchen are open and spacious, and we cooked and ate there. Our room was roomy too, and the bathroom was as big as the bedroom. Everything was exceptionally clean, and we had one of our best nights of sleep. The house is 1.5 km off the trail, but Eric picked us up after we reached Gernika and took us back to the Camino the next morning. Later, after we’d arrived and settled in, he also drove us back to Gernika so we could buy a few things, then picked us up again. We’d definitely stay here if we’re ever back in town.

The house felt friendly and well loved, and the host couldn’t have done more for us. I was here with my mum for a short stretch of the camino, and he even picked us up outside Gernika when she was struggling with the long walk. The features are basic, but it’s comfortable. Thanks for having us!

The host picked me up in town even though the place is a little out of the way, then drove me to the start of the Camino the next day. Great service.

The detour from the main Camino del Norte path is slight, and the peace and quiet made it well worth it. Casa Rural was spotless and comfortable, and I got a much-needed rest for my tired legs. The host was so welcoming. It’s a lovely break from crowded albergues, and I’d recommend it to any pilgrim wanting to recharge before the next stage. You can also book breakfast if you need it.

Erik was thoughtful about our food needs. I’m vegetarian and my travel mate has Celiac’s, and he accommodated both of us. He also picked us up from town and took us back to the Camino in the morning. The rooms were charming, the kitchen was really well equipped, and we enjoyed making our own dinner. Breakfast was especially beautiful and memorable. Casa Rural Astobieta Landetxea was easily the best part of our hostel experiences. A delightful stay, and one I’d highly recommend.
