Siesta Mar Apartamentos I & II

We had a really fun stay, and our two-year-old made so many friends around the pool that we got to relax while keeping an eye on her. The two water slides were brilliant for kids and grown-ups, and there’s also a playground. The pools are excellent: one deep pool for adults, another one metre deep, and a children’s pool about 0.6m deep. Inflatables are allowed, but there’s no lifeguard. The pool bar stays open all day with hot and cold drinks, crisps, and ice cream. The accommodation is well priced and family friendly, right in the centre of Cala En Porter. It’s a five-minute walk down steep steps to the beach, and only two minutes to the restaurants, with a supermarket literally across the road. The complex looks tired around the edges and could use investment in renovations, but that helps keep the price reasonable compared with many other places. From what we saw, they maintain it as well as they can, and it was very clean.

Cala n Porter worked really well as a base for exploring Menorca. We hired a car and found Mahón and several lovely beaches and other places only a short drive away. The beach itself had good sand and clear water, and wasn’t too busy. It’s a short walk down quite a few steps, or you can take the road train or a longer route by road. We stayed in June 2019 in a privately owned apartment that was clean, spacious, and well furnished. The complex was clean too, with good facilities, a great pool, friendly bar staff, and lovely food served on site. Shops, bars, and restaurants are just outside, so everything you need is close by.

A comfortable two-star hotel with self-catering. The pool and gardens are immaculately maintained, and you’re close to the beach path and the bars and restaurants in the town centre. The decor has a few rough edges, but five stars would cost a lot more. There are no lifts to the upper floors, which could make access awkward for people with limited mobility.

We were in Siesta Mar 1, where the pool was lovely and quiet. The apartment rooms are clean, though basic and quite dated. There’s AC only in the bedroom, which was fine, but the bathroom could do with an upgrade. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach our apartment or the area around it. Oddly, it worked in bars and restaurants north of Siesta Mar reception.
