We’ve stayed at this hotel in two different years while visiting with another family, and it will always be special to us. We love the spa experience here. The hotel meals were convenient too.

The town sits beside a large reservoir with sailing and other water activities. It has a friendly community feel, though there isn't much to it, and it's handy for trips to Merida, Medellin and the many bodegas in the area. The hotel itself is lovely, built around a central patio, with pleasant rooms and plenty of places to relax. It’s directly opposite the spa, and staying at the hotel includes free access to the spa’s outdoor pool. You can also take a tour of the Roman baths beneath the modern spa. This is a proper spa, with assessments and treatments as well as wellness options. The experience can feel a bit regimented if you’ve never stayed at a spa hotel before.

The hotel was comfortable and pleasant, and the meals were decent without costing too much. I’d assumed from the website that the Balneario was part of the hotel, but it isn’t, and it’s very expensive. Hotel guests don’t get a discount, which was disappointing.
