Donfadrique Hotel Restaurante

We had a fantastic Ribeira de Duero and toast with Jamon and Foie on the terrace, and both tasted fantastic. Our waitress, Raquel, was very friendly. The restaurant apparently wasn’t ready for guests at 9pm, so we sat outside instead. It’s at an upscale price level and could use some renovation here and there. The place is beautifully located opposite Alba de Tormes: the main house has a country style, the annexes look like modern Bauhaus, and the pavilion like a UFO. There’s a large hillside pool with a great view of Alba. We’ll gladly come again.

A real mecca for local cuisine, with Nico and his team using innovative techniques. Nico makes his own burrata and embutidos, and does a Beijing Duck version with Iberian suckling pig. Heavenly! There’s also an eclectic wine list with some very good surprises.

We stopped by on the off chance while heading to Santander. They were closed, but opened just for us. Lovely setting. A bit pricey for a quick bite, though it could make a great venue for a special occasion.

I was there for a wedding and the food was delicious, no complaints at all. The hotel is in the right spot. Price was the only downside, though that may have been because it was summer.
