Hostal Tarifa

The guesthouse sounds like a rough place to stay, with drunk or drugged people, shouting and fighting. You’d need to be very brave to sleep there. The kebab place is a disaster too: rubbish all over the sidewalk, disgusting cold, gelatinous meat, and pizzas that are bland and burnt. Service is painfully slow, and the server doesn’t speak Spanish.

There’s no reception, and the rooms are small and very basic. If yours faces the back, the wall is only about 30cm away. The place is clean, including the bathroom, and the beds are passable. There’s air conditioning, and it’s cheap, so it’ll do for a night. I’ve found other guesthouses and hostels at the same price that are a bit better.

The service felt very unprofessional, and the place was run-down and badly neglected. There was hair in the shower, lots of dirt, dirty towels, and baseboards coming loose. It’s very outdated too. I honestly wouldn’t return or recommend it.

You can’t book anything because the receptionist doesn’t understand a word of Spanish. She doesn’t speak it herself either.
