Hostal los Palacios

We got great views from our balcony, and they were extremely accommodating when we arrived late. Excellent hotel and really good value for money.

The views are lovely, and the main sights of Albarraicin are just a short walk away. I booked the ground-floor single room and found it good value for a private room with its own bathroom. The woman at reception was patient and helpful while I used a translator, since I don't speak Spanish. Evenings were cold this time of year, so I was glad the heating worked and there was lots of hot water. The soundproofing is poor, though, and noisy neighbours could make things less peaceful. I had a really enjoyable stay and would recommend it.

The beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean, tidy and functional, though a little worn. From the room there was a fantastic view across to the cathedral, the walls and the surrounding hills. My main complaint was the temperature: the radiator was burning hot with no way to adjust it, so the room became stifling overnight. There was no window, just balcony doors, and it was almost freezing outside on our last night. The bedspreads and pillow shams also needed a proper wash. They smelled of greasy hair.

Check what day and time it is before planning anything in Albarracin. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays most places are shut, and between 3 and 8 nothing is open, even the supermarkets. The room itself was modern, medium-sized and very clean, with a very good shower room. From the good-sized balcony, the view was completely unobstructed. It's simple and nice, and I'd recommend it, but the walls are very thin, so it can be noisy.
