Hotel Cuatro Canos

I was on my own, so the small room was fine. It was lovely, very close to the university of alcala library, and there were loads of restaurants nearby. They cleaned the room every day.

We booked through LoveHolidays and arrived to find no sign of our booking, even though I’d emailed the hotel days earlier to let them know we’d be arriving late. The male receptionist kept walking away or going out for a smoke in the middle of conversations while we tried to get by with the Spanish we knew. It was a very bad experience. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone planning a holiday in Madrid or the surrounding area.

I really wouldn’t recommend staying here. We felt so unsafe that we left and booked another hotel. Our room was three floors underground, with no signal and no bathroom. There were holes and stains on the sheets, just one towel, a window people in the hallway could see through, and only one usable plug. The staff didn’t say anything, so we left the keys on the desk without a word. If I could give it no stars, I would.

A real nightmare. They were rude and unhelpful, and didn’t seem interested in finding a way to communicate. As far as I could tell, nobody spoke any English, and they didn’t reply to emails either. I managed to find someone who spoke Spanish so I could change from a room with a shared bathroom to one with its own, but no one made any effort to help. I bought this as a present and all I can do now is regret it. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
