Abuela María de Cabañeros

We had a fantastic time following the hiking routes Hilaria suggested, and we'd love to come back. The house was spotless, with roomy bedrooms, comfortable beds, and a lovely garden and pool. It worked just as well for us with children as it would without them. Such a good place to switch off and explore Cabañeros National Park and the surrounding area.

The village may be small, but you can set out for lovely walks straight from the door, and there's a beautiful view just outside. The house is compact, well equipped, and a pleasant fit for a family or a group of friends, with its own pool. It's also close to the National Park Visitor Center ("Casa Palillos"). Cabañeros National Park has great birdwatching, including Iberian imperial eagles and black vultures, along with other wildlife, varied ecosystems, and typical Mediterranean landscapes. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit. Summer can be scorching, and autumn is especially good for seeing the deer rut.

We've stayed at Casa Rural Abuela Maria twice, and I can see us coming back again. The couple who run it are incredibly friendly, and the house is comfortable. It's in Santa Quiteria, a tiny village where you can enjoy the peace and quiet surrounded by nature. A lovely place to leave the city behind for a few calm days, especially if you want to spend time in Cabañeros National Park.

I stayed there for my August holiday with my husband, my mother, and our dog, and we had a fantastic time. Hilari and José Angel were so kind and attentive, always making sure things were taken care of. The house had everything we needed. I'd recommend it if you're hoping to leave the city behind and reconnect with nature.
