Ona Aucanada

The staff were lovely, parking outside was easy to find, and the villa was clean and well equipped. We had a great time there for almost a week as a group of six. The location is great, and we'll definitely be back.

The place was extremely dirty. There was green mold growing on the bathroom plug sockets, and the AC units had mold growing out of them, so we didn't use the heating. The kitchen was pitiful, with a faucet so calcified that turning it on sent a little shower across the kitchen. The sofa was stained and disgusting, and the pillows were extremely thin. The bathroom latch had clearly been broken and repaired a few times; in the end they used an eye hook, so the door didn't shut properly. The on-site restaurant was closed, and a colony of feral cats wandered around, fed by the residents.

The staff were VERY friendly, and that helped a lot. I hope management takes notice and starts investing again. The buildings are aging and it shows, though things are in an acceptable state. Don't expect the Hilton. Better mattresses and furniture, a handyman to deal with broken tiles, a heated pool, modern TVs, and a more modern buffet would go a long way. For groceries, Mercadona in Alcudia is nearby and has everything you need, plus a spacious underground parking lot. It's a better option than the Sunday morning market in the old town. A rental car is highly recommended if you're staying with kids or friends, and on-site parking costs extra. The immediate surroundings aren't especially nice, with an old Repsol gas and oil plant just around the corner, and the nearby restaurant gets crowded quickly. The closest beaches are rocky, so at least go to Port d'alcudia or the beaches at Formentor. The open kitchen in the appartment makes it possible to cook a simple meal, and the laundry machine works. They provide some detergent and soap when you arrive. Towels are available, but they're not the softest or largest, so bring your own, especially for the beach. The appartments are only cleaned once a week, so towels are also replaced just once a week. Pool towels can be rented for extra. Breakfast is fine, though the buffet isn't very luxurious or varied. It suffices, nothing more. Don't go for the evening buffet. The food is honest enough, but nothing special and far from a hotel experience, and kids won't like it. The pool isn't big or exciting, and it's not heated. The TV is an old device with cable only, no apps, and not worth much. Wifi is free.

Everything was perfect during our nine days over Christmas. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the apartment was spotless when we arrived. It had everything we needed to feel at home 👌 😀
