Villa Muralla is in a perfect spot, a peaceful five-minute walk from the busy Alcudia old town. It’s an old-fashioned Spanish villa with what you need for a relaxing stay, though the furniture, bedding and towels could do with some TLC. The management service was our main disappointment. We’d been told the pool would be cleaned twice a week, but during our 11 nights it was only cleaned twice after we asked. The man who came was rude, said we were using too much sun cream, and made us feel like a nuisance when he also dealt with our air-conditioning problem. I’d still recommend the villa for its location.

The views over the mountains and old town are lovely, and the location is hard to beat, just a 3-4 minute walk to the old town. It’s a decent-sized family villa for four, and the air conditioning worked well enough, though it was only available during the hottest part of the day, which I’m told is normal. The poor cleanliness and shabby furnishings really let it down. The kitchen looked like it had come from a jumble sale 30 years ago, the sheets were thin and poor quality, and the place wasn’t furnished like the photos. We didn’t use the BBQ, but it could use some attention too. With some modernising and TLC, this could have been a five-star stay.
