The rooms are nice and spacious, and I think the hotel has potential. Still, a more substantial breakfast would help, perhaps with ham or other simple cold cuts, or they could remove the included breakfast and lower the room rate. The current breakfast is quite limited: half a glass of juice, tomato bread, coffee, milk and sobao. There’s also a sign by the table listing extra charges for things like ham and more coffee, which makes it feel a bit commercial. There are lots of signs with prohibitions, including “No leaning,” “No climbing on the table,” “No picking lemons from the tree,” “Respect the trees” and “No smoking on the terrace.” I understand wanting to look after the facilities, but all those signs make the place feel unwelcoming and spoil the atmosphere. I recently stayed with my family, and the start of the visit wasn’t great. Before we arrived, I got a message saying I had to check in and pay before 5:00 PM. That forced me to change my plans and rush out of Santander. When we got there, someone immediately presented me with a credit card, which didn’t feel very welcoming. Check-in could be more flexible, and the way the rules are communicated could be improved to make the stay more pleasant and hospitable.
