La Palmera

A good value base for exploring the region, especially for a short break. It's 30 min from Malaga airport, 1h 40 to Gibraltar, and an easy drive to the coast and mountains. There's free parking in the hotel's own compound opposite. Bars, restaurants, and cafes are just a few minutes' walk away, and the terrace bar is worth a visit for the great tapas and superb welcome. The hotel is well presented, with traditional touches, spacious rooms, small balcony options, and self catering facilities. Breakfast was good, the beds very comfortable, and housekeeping came daily. The management are continuing to improve what they offer. It's better as a place to stay while exploring than as somewhere to spend the day.

We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, and the place was very clean. It's in a great spot, just off the main street. The only downside was the badly stained bath, despite the rest of the bathroom being very clean. It didn't spoil our stay.

Clean hotel, friendly people, good rooms, and very fast, stable internet. The town is beautiful, too. The AC needs servicing, though: it seems to be missing cooling liquid, so it's loud and doesn't work very well. There can also be loud sounds from the roof terrasse bar, with kids running and trampling and furniture moving. How much you hear depends on your room.

Right in the centre of Alhurin, close to all amenities, and a great price for exploring the local area. The traditional tiles throughout are beautiful, while the rooms are modern and clean, with comfortable beds and a kitchenette area. Everything you need.
