Hostal La Parra II

Great service, and everyone was friendly and helpful.

It’s very peaceful here, and the locals are incredibly friendly. The room was clean, though it had a strong tobacco smell. The woman who runs the place is fantastic and makes you feel at home. She lives upstairs and can lend you a hairdryer or anything else you need.

We went in the late afternoon for a few beers and thought we might stay for dinner, but the service put us off. After sitting at the bar, we watched people on our right get tapas with their second drinks. About ten minutes after we ordered beers, people to our left ordered drinks and tapas. That made us pay closer attention, and it seemed the tapas were just for locals. We were visitors and didn't get the same treatment. By the time we left, we were glad we hadn't been given a free tapa, since the waitress was taking food off the tray she was serving to other customers. We won't return. It feels like a bar for locals, and there are two others nearby with much better service.

What a difference the new chef has made. The food was fantastic, from straightforward patatas bravas to sirloin with mushroom cream and caramelized foie gras. Every dish was delicious.
