NH Ciudad de Almería

We spent 3 days in Almeria, and the hotel made it easy to see the sights and walk to the beach. Our room was a good size and perfectly clean, with a large, comfortable bed. The air conditioning worked perfectly, made very little noise and kept the temperature nice. All the staff were friendly, and breakfast was excellent. We couldn’t fault the hotel.

We found free street parking nearby on Sunday, and the hotel was easy to locate. It’s around a 10-minute walk to the beach, crossing the railway by pedestrian bridge. The neighborhood is modern but less appealing than the old town. Comfortable place for a 4-star stay, with a very nice breakfast.

Getting around worked well without a car. The bus station for the beaches is about five minutes away, San Miguel beach is a 20-minute walk, and the bars and restaurants downtown take around 25 minutes on foot. There’s also a chain supermarket five minutes away. The room had a small terrace with a nice view, though the views in general were nothing special. It was comfortable and had a TV, a small fridge that didn’t seem to cool things enough, and what was usually two single beds pushed together. Ours was a king. The room itself wasn’t especially modern. The bathroom had a big tub and shower, but the water pressure wasn’t great, even with the small, plate-sized shower heads and their massage settings. There’s a gym, several meeting rooms, and a breakfast room. Even in the aftermath of COVID-19, staff served the buffet. It had the usual things, including eggs made to order, fruit, bread, and yogurt.

The room was spacious and clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and the bus station is close too. Wi-Fi was okay. Still, the squeaky floor and very thin walls made it hard to get a decent night’s sleep. The TV was really slow, and the bed covers were odd. Amenities were limited to things like gel, soap, and towels.
