What a stunning village, and the hotel is amazing too!

There’s no elevator, and getting to the second floor was really difficult for us, especially as we’re elderly. We’d asked for two double rooms, which we understood to mean rooms with two single beds, but we were given rooms with single beds instead. Check-in ends at 9:30 PM, and after that there’s nobody to help in person or by phone. Everything relies on codes, and if you don’t write them down, the WhatsApp message disappears within 24 hours. With the lack of attention and these problems, I can’t recommend the accommodation.

The bed was super comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. The location is ideal, close to the chapel, and you can park right outside. Every room has a private bathroom. The air conditioning units could use a little maintenance. There are lots of rooms, so let them know if you have mobility issues and they can give you a more accessible one.

The host was very friendly, there was daily “cleaning,” and fresh towels were available if you wanted them. There’s also a vending machine for drinks and snacks. But the room had an enormous number of pests: a snail on the inside of the door, ants and other bugs around the room, even in the bed. The slatted bed base was full of sand, there was a dirty mark on the nightstand, and the courtyard floors had hair and sand on them. The room was extremely noisy. We could hear everything the neighbors said and did, their showers sounded like a fountain, and the doors banged loudly. The bed was uncomfortable, and the ground floor had no light except from the courtyard if you opened your window. From outside, with its courtyard and metal doors, the place looks a bit like a prison. I paid €117.50 a night for four nights during the MXGP, but I see the room now offered for €40 when there are no nearby events. During the week, El Rocío felt unpleasant, especially as a woman alone, with mostly male immigrants/Gypsies hanging around the bus stop. There’s more tourism on weekends, and the church is worth seeing. You can see it all in two hours.
