El Balcón de Cotobro is a real gem on the Costa Tropical of Almuñécar. The food is extraordinary, made with care and passion from local ingredients, and every dish is fresh, bold, and satisfying. The staff are warm, attentive, and welcoming, making you feel like a cherished guest. The setting is unforgettable, especially at sunset. You can look out over the sea as the warm Andalusian breeze and sound of the waves surround you, with golden light fading over the water. It's an atmosphere I haven't found anywhere else on this coast. A place I'd return to again and again, and recommend to everyone I love.

One of the best places to have dinner in Costa Tropical. The gamba pil pil is hard to beat, and the pistachio mousse is incredible.

That oceanfront location is beautiful, perfect for watching the sunset with a glass of wine and some time to relax. For a meal, though, I don't think I'd risk going back. Service was very slow and not helpful, even with just three busy tables. We waited ages for a cheese board, and once it arrived the waiter kept pressing us to order from the menu, even though we wanted to enjoy the cheese and wine first. The main course looked appealing and was presented well, but the food was already cold, especially the steak. We decided to leave, had the food packed to go, and left disappointed. The owner seemed to be a blond lady. When I asked for a proper invoice before leaving, she didn't seem happy. It was late, she took a long time to issue it, and her body language was poor. She was wearing sunglasses, which didn't feel like a good way to deal with customers at night. I'd come back for drinks and a relaxed evening because the location is lovely, but not for food or service.

The location right on the beach is nice, and the food we had was very good. The dessert menu only had three choices, though, and the service was a bit lax. The waiting staff weren't always around and often chatted across the road. When we went to find salt and pepper, we were told to sit down because the waitress would bring it. Eventually she brought us two pepper mills!

We had dinner here on a Wednesday with a group of seven, and the table by the beach had a great atmosphere. The olives were lovely, and the semidulce white wine was delicious. They brought bread and charged us for it later, which apparently is pretty standard around here. We asked for olive oil and got cute little bottles to use. Service was prompt and friendly, and all the meals arrived together. My partner ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was perfect. Mine was meant to be medium but came well done, and the meat was very tough. Sometimes that happens. I still loved the restaurant and the vibe.
