Hotel Key Reig

Parking is fairly easy to find nearby, even though the hotel has none of its own. The staff are excellent, and the hotel is comfortable and recently renovated, but there’s still plenty to improve. My room was noisy and poorly insulated, and it was very cold when I walked in. The bathroom had no heating either, and they provided barely enough soap for each shower. The windows looked onto inner areas full of scaffolding. There were no “do not disturb” signs, and staff knocked early in the morning to check if anyone was in the room. That left me tense, worried they might come in without warning. It has potential to be a good hotel, but it needs work.

The staff were super friendly, and the rooms seemed quite new. But the soundproofing was really poor, so you could hear everything, and the AC fans were very noisy. The price felt a bit high for what was on offer, though the dates made it understandable.

At 5:00 a.m., an air conditioning unit near the window started buzzing, and I couldn’t sleep. The emergency light above the bed also kept the room from getting fully dark. The window looks onto an interior courtyard and is best left shut. The room didn’t seem to have been cleaned after the renovations, even the tiles, and there were bits of things on the shelf. The corner moldings still had protective plastic trapped underneath from installation, and they seemed easy to damage if touched. The TV showed “no channels,” so I went downstairs to report it. The receptionist had to come up and explain that I needed a specific app, which she hadn’t explained when I arrived. The breakfast, advertised as a buffet, was just blister-packed York ham, Serrano ham and cheese, yogurt, bottled orange juice, and little else, as in the two photos. It cost €7. The receptionist was completely unprofessional.

A good option if you need to go to Valencia and want to stay nearby somewhere peaceful. It’s quick and easy to get to, and both the rooms and reception service were very good.
