Finca Rocabella

We were told by Susana, the place manager, that we couldn't play music by the pool because houses were nearby. We followed that rule, but the neighbors played loud reggaeton all weekend, and there wasn't much privacy if that's what you want. It was not relaxing. The house looked nothing like the photos and didn't meet basic standards. The furniture was old, dirty, and sparse, the kitchen was flooded when we arrived, and the area by the pool was dug up with dirt and mess everywhere. The small pond was rotten and stank. Electricity and WiFi kept cutting out randomly during the day, and there was no phone reception up there, which was very annoying. The description falsely promised an outdoor toilet and space for up to two extra guests on a sofa bed, but neither was true. The landlord Carlos greeted us in their completely ruined restaurant without a face mask, and wore none while charging us indoors or showing us around the house. Face masks were still mandatory in Spain, so this was impolite, dangerous, and illegal. This was the worst rural accommodation we've ever stayed in, in terrible condition and at a price that made no sense. The people managing it were unprofessional. I would not recommend it.

The view was nice, but the food was mediocre and our apartment kept smelling of sewage. When we complained about the smell, the response was unenthusiastic. This used to be a fantastic little spot, but it has gone downhill completely. I'd only come for a drink.

We brought a group of 10 and every one of us had a great time. The place is really well priced, with a lovely bar and restaurant on site. For a climbing trip to El Chorro, it’s a great option: you can walk to the crags, including Rocabella for an evening climb. Fantastic accommodation.

The garden was well established and gave us both privacy and shelter when we wanted it, and the pool was just right. Inside, the villa was spacious and comfortable, with spectacular views and everything we needed for a perfect holiday, including books, WiFi and a TV. Thanks to the owners for all their help and information. We’ve just come back from a great week.
