I can only speak about the café, and I’d tell people to steer clear. The customer service was basically nonexistent, and we felt like part of an assembly line. When my partner and I said we didn’t want coffee, they brought the bill straight away. The food was poor in both quality and presentation. The bread was stale, and the meat advertised as grilled seemed more likely to have been fried. It felt like a tourist trap and wasn’t worth the money.

The meal was passable for the price, but there wasn’t much to it. We had steak and entrecote as part of the three courses, and I still don’t understand the extra EUR 4 for the entrecote. It was listed on the price list, but the taste wasn’t especially distinctive or exclusive. The service was the low point. The waitress wasn’t rude, just completely uninterested. She dropped off our order and left without saying a word, no offer to help or even a simple “enjoy your meal.” The back terrace didn’t do much for us either, tucked beside a little back road, and the music felt more like the waitress’s choice than something suited to dinner. The food was okay for what we paid, but I’d skip the rest of the experience.

For three evenings in a row, the waiter made an extra effort to make sure I ate well as a vegetarian. The food was decent, and everyone was friendly. Great service, and I’d highly recommend it if you’re staying in Alquezar.

We really enjoyed the relaxed back terrace and friendly service. The menu del día also struck a nice balance between price, quality, and portion size. We were very satisfied.
