The owners' lack of empathy really upset me, both toward their guests and toward their own Autonomous Community. My siblings and I, eight people in all, had rented Casa Barahona for the weekend of December 1st to 4th. With the DANA storm still battering the Valencian Community and the DGT advising against travel in the region unless absolutely necessary, we decided on November 31st to cancel. The owner refused to return the deposit, even though we had given three days' notice. The problems hadn't started yet when we gave that notice.

The owner's attitude was appalling, and I absolutely can't recommend this place. Booking.com listed €827, so we called to confirm the price and ask whether she wanted to avoid its commission. We agreed on €735 for the three days I wanted to book, and she confirmed that amount. Later she called to say Booking.com had made an error, but that she'd honor the original price since it wasn't my fault. Then she changed her mind and said it would be €1065 after all, and she couldn't honor €735. Book through a third party, even if it costs more. This is no way to treat people who might stay there.
