Gran H La Marina 1920

The most stylish and beautifully furnished place I stayed on my whole trip. Its spot by the main road does mean you need to sleep soundly.

The location beside the train station made getting around so easy. We could walk out of the hotel and get straight on the train wherever we wanted to go. In the heart of Altea, Gran H la Marina was a lovely, cozy place to stay, and we had a really great visit. The staff gave us such a warm welcome, especially Margarita. She explained everything we needed to know, suggested lots of nice places to visit, and was incredibly kind and respectful. Our rooms were spotless, with a really nice aesthetic and interior design, plus a lovely chill out area. I'd definitely recommend it.

We spent a couple of nights here to get some much-needed time away after a very busy summer at work. We usually seek out small boutique hotels, and the photos caught my eye because I like things to look nice 😂😉 The hotel has plenty going for it: it's close to the beach and old town, the tram runs into benidorm, local parking is free, and the hotel has character. It’s dog friendly too, which was a bonus for us 🐕 The room was spotless, though at this price I expected more. There was mold on the shower frame under the sink, and the bathroom smelled very musty. We were in room 1 at the top of the stairs, just off reception. The hotel has been lovingly restored and kept some beautiful tiles, but that also made mornings noisy. Suitcases being dragged across the floor and down the stairs woke me early, and I'm not an early riser 😂 The compact room wasn't a big issue by itself, but light came in from the hallway through the ceiling window, and I like a dark room for sleeping. The fridge didn't get cold either. The TV service could be better: there are only a few channels, all in Spanish, and with international guests staying here, some English channels would make sense.

The location was a real highlight: our bedroom looked over the old town, yet we barely heard anything from the road or train station. The beach was close, with tapas bars serving local Spanish food all around. We came for a romantic weekend in Altea and would happily book here again. The hotel felt clean, safe and welcoming, with reasonable prices. Viktoriya, the owner, greeted us warmly and was very polite. We were offered drinks when we arrived, and the lobby had free tea, coffee and beer available, plus little pastries for afternoon tea. Our room was cozy and tidy, the climate control was easy to adjust, and there were extra soft, clean blankets. I don't usually write reviews, but the service really stood out. We'll recommend it to friends and family.
