Hostal Casa del Mar

We had a great stay, from making the reservation through checkout, and breakfast was part of the price. We first tried breakfast at the Boutique Casa del Mar after the staff at another nearby hotel, where we'd booked, suggested it. Their food had lots of options and was very good, and the staff were welcoming and lovely. That other hotel's street was terribly noisy, so we gave this place a try because it faces the Mediterranean and none of its rooms overlook that street. Our room, #6, looked out over the water, and we could hear the waves as we fell asleep. It was nicely equipped and decorated, with lovely linens and towels. I especially liked the makeup towel. The only drawback was the small size, which made it feel cramped, though opening the windows made it feel perfect. The hotel is well placed for Altea. The beach is right there, restaurants and shops line the boardwalk, and you can walk up to the old town, though it's a steep climb. The hallways also had beautiful local art. We didn't mind that our room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator, but it's something to keep in mind. If you're not using public transport, free parking is available at the train station, a 5-7 minute walk away.
