Casa De Costoia

I was glad I stayed in the countryside at Casa de Costoia, outside Santiago de compostela. The room was beautiful, and after a long flight, the spa in the bathroom was a very welcome surprise. The people running the place are friendly and do their best to make you feel at home. I didn't have a hire car, but a taxi ride to the town centre took about 15 minutes. I liked getting to see both the city and the countryside, and I'd happily recommend staying here.

The house itself is beautiful, but the stay was a real disappointment. We paid over €100 and there was no fan, mini-fridge, or extra bin in the room. We hadn't expected air conditioning, but in the summer heat even a fan would have helped. The house also has very poor soundproofing, so you can hear everything. Noise was a problem at night and in the morning. Guests above us made a lot of noise from midnight to 1 am. I went to the reception to complain, but nobody was there. I wanted to speak to the guests myself, but I'm disabled and couldn't manage the stairs. Our room had its own entrance, which was nice, but it was right by the breakfast area. We could hear people talking and banging their utensils, which was unpleasant. Moving the table farther from the room would help, since not everyone gets up early. The woman at reception also seemed irritated when we arrived. She never smiled and stayed that way through check-in, though we don't know why.

Jhuly and Julio's warm welcome made us feel at home, and the rooms were lovely. The breakfast was incredible too. Casa de Costoia was a peaceful place to finish the Camino, with Santiago and the surrounding area close by. An unforgettable stay.

We were asked to leave for one night in the middle of our stay because the owner had booked the whole house for a wedding. That really wasn't okay. Parking was also limited, and I can't imagine where everyone would park if each room had a car. The place looks more promising than it turns out to be.
