Cortijo los Dolmenes

The whole place, including the surroundings, felt depressing, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. We couldn’t understand why the provincial council’s tourism department had approved it. There was broken glass in the bathroom and chemical cleaning products within children’s reach. The house was in the condition shown in the photos, and on top of that there were no bed sheets or towels. It was very cold, the radiators couldn’t warm it properly, and the fuses kept blowing. Showers didn’t work, appliances were broken, and there wasn’t enough cutlery for the space. It felt like a place for bachelor parties, not for a relaxing holiday. A horrible house.

The place is secluded, but Antequera is very close, with supermarkets, pharmacies, and gas stations nearby. There are several outdoor areas, and the small pool is just right for cooling off. We could play music without bothering anyone. We were 11 people there at the start of September, and both the house and service were fantastic. I hope we can return.

The appliances are very old, and the price doesn’t match what the place offers. We raised our concerns with the owner, but she said that was simply how things were. It’s a shame, because renovating with some of the money they charge could make this a great stay. We wouldn’t go back. The house is in one of the coldest parts of Malaga and isn’t set up for that weather. There’s a heater in each room, but they’re all old, and using more than two trips the fuse. It can trip when you shower, too. The living room air conditioning doesn’t heat the whole house, so you’re left using the fireplace all day, while the supplied firewood lasts only three hours. The listing says there’s a dishwasher, but there isn’t. There are two sinks for washing dishes, one with boiling water and one with ice-cold water.

The house is lovely, and being able to bring our dog was the best part. The location is good, and the woman who helped us was really kind and friendly. Breakfast was the one letdown. It wasn’t really worth it.
