Relente Rural House The setting may be fine for switching off, but there’s little nearby beyond fields, so it didn’t suit hanging out with friends over food and drinks. I wouldn’t consider it suitable for children under 4. When we arrived, my son went to the bathroom and found industrial bleach, or something similar, in the toilet bowl. The smell was so strong he started coughing, vomited, and kept coughing from the odor. There are safety and access concerns as well. The TV and other items sit low and aren’t fixed down or on stable supports. Getting there is terrible, and in an emergency you’d be stuck. The nearest place to buy anything is the DIA supermarket in Villanueva de la Concepción, six kilometers away as the crow flies, but the winding road makes it about 15-20 kilometers. The kitchen has no extractor hood, so you have to open a window even when it’s cold. There’s no smoke detector or fire extinguisher, which is hard to understand for such basic safety equipment. The pans are poor quality and everything sticks, and there’s no microwave or oven.

The owner is kind and always available if you need anything. It’s a beautiful place, with stunning scenery, and it really deserves five stars.

It was horrible, everything was very dirty. We’d booked several nights but only stayed for an hour.

A fantastic cabin for getting away from it all. It had everything I could need for a few days’ holiday. Highly recommended.
