Wonder

We booked the Wonder property for two nights, the 24th to 26th, but the place was unsanitary and a complete nightmare. I had to complain to Booking.com and sent more than six emails with photos and evidence of its deplorable condition. The owner's apathy was unbelievable. She ignored what we told her and didn't respond, including to Booking.com. She simply cancelled the reservation and kept the money, with no apology or responsibility taken. On the 25th, we began a claim and asked for a refund for the second night, since we didn't stay there and went to a hotel in the city instead. There was almost no cleanliness, an indescribable smell, dirty sheets and mattresses that looked like they'd come from a recycling center. There were so many flies that we bought insecticide. My daughter and I had to sleep on the sofas, and we woke with aches and pains. We have asthma and had to use rescue medication because breathing inside was difficult. It's a real shame Google won't let me upload the photos I took of this dump. Even a bad movie motel looks five-star by comparison. Please don't be fooled by the photos. It isn't worth the price, not even by mistake.

The apartment wasn't bad, and they did bring down a fan when we messaged them on WhatsApp because it was very hot. But getting the booking sorted was a mess. I reserved it because pets were allowed, then only after booking found out there was a €5 per day charge. That's not much, but they should have told us beforehand. I paid, and the confirmation came for a day later because they said they weren't available on my chosen date. When I called, they said that couldn't be right, the date wasn't available, and the booking couldn't be cancelled. They said they'd let me know if it opened up, so I had to change my vacation plans. On the day I'd originally booked, they called to say it was occupied, but had become available after all and asked if we still wanted to come. It was a considerate gesture. We talked it over as a family and changed our plans again. Five minutes later they called to say the different day cost more, but they'd offer half price for the inconvenience, which still meant €50 more than I'd already paid. The apartment is in a small town in Cuenca, around 15 or 20 minutes from the city center. It has hardly any kitchenware, the advertised jacuzzi bathtub didn't work, and communication was difficult because there's no cell service. There is a parking space, but we couldn't use it because the remote didn't work.

Clean, very nice apartment, with a parking space. Highly recommended.

Alba was a delight, really attentive, and we would come back. The apartment is spacious and has a parking space in the same building. Arcas is quiet and near Cuenca; there's a bakery close by and two restaurants nearby, and we preferred Pradaria. There aren't any other shops in town. A couple of small improvements would be more kitchenware, like a pasta strainer and knives that aren't butter knives, and quieter beds, since they squeak a little. Nothing major. They'd also left a nice breakfast touch with instant coffee, cocoa, milk and sobaos. Thanks so much for everything, Alba.
