Mariposa del Sol

The receptionist was friendly and helpful every day, and the pool was cleaned daily. We stayed three nights and found the room clean and fresh smelling, with pretty much everything an apartment needs. My husband, being British, did miss having a kettle. We borrowed an iron for free because we were going to a wedding. The pizza place there was absolutely delightful! The lift was out of order, but our room was on the second floor and the few stairs didn’t bother us. I think we’d have walked up anyway, even if it had been working. The only issue was tiny ants in the room. We put down some anti-ant gel and it worked, so the problem went away 🙂

This hotel feels like a fever dream. After a week here, I can say it’s probably the worst place my family and I have stayed. The towels have holes, the room isn’t cleaned properly, and they don’t change the sheets. You have to buy even the little basics yourself, since there’s no detergent or sponge. The “lift” barely counts as one, and if it happens to work, you’re lucky. Phone reception is nonexistent or very weak, and the WiFi only lets three devices log in. I’ve read a lot of the bad reviews and agree with many of them. No shade to the hotel, this is just how our stay went. The receptionists were the one good thing: always kind and helpful. But we still won’t be coming back. I’d give it zero stars if I could, but I had to choose one.

The family running the place are wonderful and made me feel at home. I had a lovely, relaxing time in a clean, well-organised spot, with good food and service. The sea is really close, and there’s a beautiful view of it from the hotel. I could fit in a gym workout and then unwind at the holistic spa. The pizza and cocktails were amazing too. I’ll absolutely be back!

The people running this lovely hotel are a welcoming, friendly family. It’s well located, just a four-minute walk from the nearest beach in the island’s always-sunny south, and the facilities are clean and comfortable. You can swim and sunbathe by the pool, work out in the gym, or simply relax and have a fabulous pizza.
