Hostal Rural San Andrés

It was a comfortable place to stay in such a remote town. The room and bathroom were clean, and the room had plenty of space and light.

The interior and exterior of the building are both very nice. I stayed overnight while walking the Camino, but there was no soundproofing. I could hear people above and below me as well as my neighbors, which might make getting a good night’s sleep very difficult for me.

The Wi-Fi was okay and the swimming pool was nice, though I’m not sure how many pilgrims carry a bikini along the Camino. The place also wasn’t the modern property some reviews made it sound like, just a normal place, neither new nor old. The showers were very small and dirty, with barely room to move and nowhere to put toiletries except outside. The facilities felt worse than usual for pilgrim hostels, even though the price was higher. Staff were very unhelpful if you only speak English. They claimed this was the only place to eat in town and that we had to eat there, which wasn’t true. If you buy dinner, they give you a ticket and treat it like gold. Don’t lose it, or they get very angry.

The rooms were very nice, the shower was great, and there was good food with lots of vegetarian options. But check whether there’ll be loud bands playing in the plaza outside until 3 am. After that, there was recorded music and yelling literally all night. Maybe we just had bad luck, though the bar across the street, El Meson, may always be loud and rowdy. Trying to sleep felt like torture. 😞
