Alexandre La Siesta

The location was a hit with us, around ten minutes on foot to the fountain and shopping areas, and a similar walk to the beachfront restaurants, shops and bars. Veronicas strip is about fifteen minutes away. We’ve visited Playa De Las Americas many times, but this was our first stay at Alexandre Hotel La Siesta, and we had a great time. Our room had plenty of space for two adults and two children, and was kept lovely and clean. The cleaners arranged our kids’ teddy bears differently on their beds each day, which they loved. The bathroom had shampoo, shower gel and a surprisingly good hairdryer. The balcony was spacious and safe, with a rail for drying clothes and swimwear. Don’t hang things over it, though: my son’s Bluey Swimwear top blew down two floors. Reception were great and sent a cleaner to retrieve it. We were very happy with the food: lots of choice, well cooked and tasty, one of the better hotels we’ve stayed at for meals. Half board is usually breakfast and dinner, but you can have lunch instead on nights you eat out. They scan your room card at the table, and you don’t need to tell anyone beforehand. There are three pools, so plenty of choice. We mainly used the children’s pool, which was really warm in June, like a warm bath by afternoon. The pool areas were clean and had lots of loungers. It got busy by the kids’ pool as parents wanted to watch, but we didn’t rush down at 7am. We usually arrived before 10am and some days found spare loungers stacked up to use. The kids loved the mini disco from 9pm-9.30pm, followed by different outdoor entertainment, which was all very good. The bar has plenty of seating and a good drinks choice. Its TV screens were showing the World cup while we were there. Nearby shops sell toys and pool inflatables, but there’s a big box by the children’s pool where abandoned pool toys are collected, so check there first. Supermarkets nearby sell suncream and nappies if you run out, though they cost more than back home. Photographers walk around the pool and can take family photos on your way to dinner. They weren’t pushy, moved on right away if we said no, and took some really lovely pictures.

The rooms were clean, comfortable and well looked after, and the hotel had a relaxed, welcoming feel. We had a wonderful stay at this four-star hotel in Tenerife, with beautiful surroundings and easy access to nearby attractions. The service was what made it especially memorable. Ramon, the bartender, was friendly and attentive, and went above and beyond to make each visit to the bar enjoyable. His positive attitude and professionalism added a personal touch. Great facilities and lovely staff, and I’d highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Tenerife.

The location is great, and most of the staff were great too, but we wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a trip with a toddler. Maybe it was a four-star place many years ago. Our bed stayed broken for the whole visit, and reception didn’t help with that or anything else. Some elevators were out of order, including the main one to breakfast, which is a real problem with a stroller. There was a lot of noise inside and outside the hotel at night. Other staff were great, though.

After so many visits, this is my home from home in Tenerife. It’s a fantastic family hotel in a brilliant location, there are never any issues, and the staff always help make each stay memorable. Around the pool, Ramon and the team work hard to keep the drinks flowing and the good atmosphere going all day. Reception gets check-ins done quickly and is always there with information. In the restaurant, Tino and the team seat everyone and offer a first-class selection, with changing theme nights keeping things interesting. Camila and the animation crew keep the kids busy all day and into the evening, brilliant work. Always my first choice when I visit Tenerife, can’t recommend it highly enough.
