Club Tenerife

The wee pool bar was great, though it closes early, and there’s a supermarket right next door. The hotel also left us wine, cava, and chocolates with a lovely note at Christmas and New Year, which was a lovely gesture and earned it an extra star. They even ejected our neighbours on Christmas Day after catching them smoking in their apartment on their first night. We paid a bloody heap for the Christmas and New Year holiday, but ended up with a wee apartment and a tiny balcony for three adults over 18 and one 13-year-old. We gave the kids the two single beds, so we slept on the sofa bed. A week later, my back has almost recovered. The bathroom was basic, little more than a cupboard. Our room was cleaned only twice in 13 nights. Fair enough, it was over the festive period, and I don’t know what to expect, but it didn’t feel like enough. Even a brush and dustpan in the room would have helped. The only email from the hotel was about collecting the keys, aside from the standard house rules and wifi password. We got no information about using the laundry or anything helpful about the hotel. It would’ve been great to know about the shower room and luggage store for guests with late flights before we ordered our airport taxi. The hotel is at the top of a hill, so it was a trek to get anywhere. We spent a fortune on taxis because Los Cristianos was a bit quiet for us. There weren’t many sunbeds around the pool, and the usual bed hoggers would leave towels on them and go out for the day. With no pool attendant, that wasn’t policed at all. If I’d got a cheaper deal, I’d have thought I got what I paid for, but at this price I didn’t feel that way.

The accommodation was excellent, and the pool bar food was great and very reasonably priced compared with restaurants in Los cristianos. The location is the one downside, with an easy downhill walk going out and an epic climb back up. The pool is very small and not suitable for very young children.

What a great little apartment complex. We had a brilliant 10 nights in a spotless room, with a sea view from the balcony. The welcome pack, including snacks and a bottle of wine, was a nice touch. There’s a supermarket close by and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The poolside bar serves hot and cold meals, ice-cream, and drinks, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The rooms are clean and homely, with everything we needed for our stay. We had a lovely week at the end of November in a two-bedroom apartment. The balcony views are wonderful and make the walk up the hill worthwhile. The pool is quite small, but there’s plenty of space to sunbathe, and the pool bar is handy. I love this hotel and will definitely come back.
