We visited Garachico, a beautiful historic town with natural pools, and Icod de los Vinos, where we enjoyed local wine and saw the famous dragon tree. Renting a car is definitely a good idea, since Isla Verde is tucked away in a quiet area, which is part of its charm, and the car makes exploring the island easier. We stayed as a couple in late March, and it was truly a dream. Isla Verde feels like a peaceful green oasis, beautifully designed and sustainably managed, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You can tell things are done with care and love. We had a wonderfully relaxing time. The hosts were kind, attentive and always ready to help with a smile. The property was well maintained and the gardens stunning, a lovely place to unwind and disconnect. We’d absolutely love to return. Isla Verde is a hidden gem for anyone wanting to experience Tenerife’s peaceful, authentic side.

Our apartment was cleaned once a week, and clean towels came twice a week. Whenever we had a question, Pierre was friendly and helpful by phone or message. The pool was nice for a daily swim, though it isn’t heated, which should be fine on warmer Tenerife days. We stayed in apartment G2, a studio that was bigger than my studio back home. There’s no separate bedroom, the beds are tucked in a corner behind curtains, and we could hear the fridge at night. There are no blackout curtains either, so it gets quite light. Bring a sleep mask if you like sleeping in the dark. The south-facing balcony got afternoon sun, and on warmer days we could have dinner out there. The shower was a bit small for us tall Dutch people. We didn’t need to bend over, but washing our hair was awkward. The ceiling is about +/-190cm. Chayofa is a nice little village with some restaurants and a supermarket, but since it’s so close to the highway, we usually went to Aldi or Lidl for more choice and cheaper prices.

The garden was one of the best parts, with beautiful plants and a really well cared for feel that added to the relaxed atmosphere. We had a fantastic week at Isla Verde and would definitely return. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Pierre, the hotel manager, deserves a special mention. I’ve rarely met someone so open and helpful. When I became a bit ill during the holiday and couldn’t manage on my own, he took care of everything for me and my girlfriend, from getting groceries to sorting out medication. I’ll never forget his support, and I’m incredibly grateful he helped us while we were in a foreign country. Anyone staying at Isla Verde can be glad Pierre is at the resort. All I can say is thank you to Pierre. We stayed in apartment A4. The terrace had a beautiful view, and the place had everything needed for self-catering, from pots and pans to dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils. An oven would be nice. It was generally very clean and comfortably furnished, with just a tiny bit of dirt, hardly worth mentioning. The bathroom was new and a good size.

Our December stay turned out to be well worth the wait after our summer plans were delayed by Covid. We got a free upgrade to a small, charming apartment with twice the ocean view, and the big balcony was great for sunbathing and eating outside in the evening. It was clean enough, though not spotless. The winding layout keeps the complex mostly quiet, and there’s a lovely pool. The village is sleepy, with a couple of mini-shops and a few places for drinks or dinner. Supermarkets are up the hill in nearby villages, while the highway, beach, and town are down the hill. A great base for exploring, beach time, or just relaxing. We’d happily come back.
