I slept warmer here than anywhere else on the Camino. The owners were lovely and helpful, with clean sheets, warm blankets and spare ones on a shelf, plus heaters in the rooms. People were even drying socks on them. The showers are spacious and private, with room to keep your towel and dry clothes out of the way. You can do laundry too; when our machine gave us trouble, the owner refunded that load so we could use the other machine. There’s also a kitchen and sitting area.

There was no hot water, and neither the microwave nor the hob worked.

Ana, who runs the place, made this one of my best Camino nights. I was worried about finding a bed in town and wanted to pay straight away to secure mine. We barely shared a language, but she looked at me and said, “Michael! Calma!” Just relax and enjoy it. The basement where I stayed was pretty grotty, to be honest, but Ana was superb.

People are supposed to be back by 22:30, but around 0:15, half the guests came in drunk and kept making noise until 2. Worst albergue.
