The location is really central, which is great, but the apartment was only fair. We heard people talking upstairs because there’s no sound insulation, and that’s not great when you’re trying to sleep. It smelled strongly of smoke when we arrived. The bathroom had no basic things like shampoo or shower gel, some dishes looked poorly washed, and there was no kitchen detergent. It was just about comfortable enough, so don’t expect much.

The apartment is right in the middle of town, which is a great location, but the first floor two bedroom unit wasn’t maintained well. We were there for two nights in June 2021. The bathroom door frame was broken, so the door wouldn’t shut, awkward when two separate people were staying and one needed the toilet. The bigger bedroom’s wardrobe smelled bad, felt very damp, and had mold all over its back wall. They sent a cleaner after we arrived, but this should have been sorted beforehand. We asked for some money back and got no response. It’s sad, especially in Covid19 times, when we thought they’d want guests to be happy enough to return.

When we arrived, the main door was already wide open, and the house smelled of smoke. The room also didn’t match the advertised pictures. We tried calling the hotel, but after 8pm there was nobody at reception for check-ins. There were no safe conditions for my wife and me to sleep there, so we left and contacted booking customer service. The hotel has security footage and can check what happened, but nobody there believed our report. Now they’re refusing to reimburse me. Worst experience ever.

We had a great time in this border town between Spain and Portugal. It has its own character, lovely streets, and great food. If you’re a foodie, there are some excellent restaurants, but do your homework first. You can get over from Portugal easily by ferry in less than 15 minutes, or cross the modern bridge by car. Speaking Spanish would make it much more enjoyable.

We love this place and keep returning. This time we brought our dog, which was fine after we asked first. The apartments are lovely and well located near all the nice restaurants, terraces, and bars. The hostess is super helpful too. Couldn’t be better. 👍😊
