Camping Dehesa Nueva

The pool, open from 12 to 9pm, was a welcome way to cool off after a hot day, and it has changing rooms. Facilities are new and clean, including the toilets and showers. Reception stays open until 9pm, and the staff were friendly. It's a shady campsite used mainly by locals, and people speak Spanish only. We didn't try the bar on site, but bars and supermarkets in Alcanazar are about a five-minute drive away. A good choice for a short stay.

There was plenty of space under the trees, and the price was fair, very affordable. The campsite itself feels a bit old, though, and the facilities need restoring. Reception staff were kind, but when we needed a car fluid from 3km away, they didn't seem very willing to help us sort it out. I don't blame them, but I've stayed at other campsites where people were more ready to help when something went wrong. Three stars feels fair.

We planned on one night and stayed three. During the weekdays it was quiet and relaxing, and the staff were lovely. The campsite is surrounded by beautiful pine forests, and we enjoyed walking around the area. We couldn't discharge grey waters, which was the only downside. Otherwise, it was a really nice place to disconnect.

The pine forest around the site is beautiful, and there was one receptionist who spoke English. The cafe served really good coffee and a typical Spanish breakfast, toast with butter and tomatoes. We paid about 15€ a night for two people and a small tent, which was reasonable. Still, I wouldn't recommend staying here. Seasonal guests were very loud and shouted until midnight, tiger mosquitos were everywhere, and about ten cats kept searching our tent for food at night and might use the tent or its surroundings as a toilet. The swimming pool was closed indefinitely for unclear reasons, even though it was 30 degrees. On Sunday the toilets apparently weren't cleaned. It had rained, the floors were muddy, and there was no toilet paper.
