Hotel Las Bovedas

Excellent value for the price, with great food in the cafeteria. A really good hotel.

The cafeteria staff were a real pleasure, polite and helpful, with fairly priced food that was nicely presented. The hotel itself was pleasant, but avoid Saturdays, especially wedding days. The outside DJ music was horrendous and carried on until 1 am Sunday. Room 101 had a broken toilet seat lid that took 3 days to fix. The hand basin plunger was broken and never repaired. The receptionist told me, in a whimpering voice, “You should have reported it earlier.” The shower leaked over the bathroom floor, and I was told it didn’t matter. That never got fixed either. There’s a card slot to keep the electricity on. I left my Spanish health card in it by mistake so the fridge would keep my medical items cool, as I’d explained when I checked in. When I returned, the cleaner had taken the card away instead of leaving it in the room. I told reception, and was told they’d chase it. The cleaner brought it back 5 hours later. I realise this sounds rather scathing, but guests should know about these things.

The first room had no AC. The receptionist said the second room was bigger and had a larger AC unit, and kindly let me move there at no extra charge. I skipped breakfast, though the setup looked like a typical Portuguese one. There’s a doorway through to a cafeteria, but the service there was awful. Even getting coffee was difficult.

A comfortable, pleasant place to rest, with a large room and bathroom right by the highway. The only drawback for me was that the TV was only in Spanish, when these days you can easily choose the original version or Spanish translation. Otherwise, all good. I recommend it.
