Be Dream Hostel

The public areas are spacious and pleasant, and the staff were nice. Someone is there around the clock. Check-in starts at 12pm and check-out is until 11am. You get a free locker with a strong lock. There’s also a washer for 4 euros and a dryer for 3 euros. The hostel is only a 13-minute walk from the seashore, straight over the bridge above the rail tracks, which was its biggest plus for me. I spent two nights in room 105, a four-bed room, and one night in room 110, a six-bed room. The mattress in 105 was foam and comfortable. In 110 it was an older spring mattress, and I could feel it in my back. Room 110 was too small for six people, and the locker door was so close to another bed that using it was awkward. The metal bunks squeaked, as they often do in hostels. Both rooms had a large window, though only a third of it could be opened. The kitchen was fairly spacious, with decent stoves and three refrigerators, but not enough pots, pans, dishes, or cutlery. Cooking smells and fried meat smell, which I hate, lingered because there was no ventilation. The showers were small, with nowhere to change. If someone opened the door while you were changing, people in the corridor could see you.

The staff were lovely and very quick to reply to my email, and the area was convenient, near a cafe, bakery and metro stop, with the beach about a 10-minute walk away. For the price, it’s a good choice. The other people staying there were a mixed bag, from a creepy homeless old man sleeping in the same bunk as me to nice young backpackers. I didn’t like that towels weren’t provided or available to rent. Reception said they were still at the laundry, which didn’t make sense.

The hostel had a nice atmosphere, and the amenities were more than satisfactory. Staff were extremely helpful, and everyone I met in our 12-person room was friendly. It was great value, and I’d definitely stay again. The metro is right nearby, so getting into the city was easy, taking about twenty or thirty minutes for a Euro ride. A taxi back from the clubs cost around 15 Euro. I stayed just overnight.

We enjoyed our stay and ended up choosing the hostel again. The staff were very nice, and the rooms were big enough. We’d paid twice as much for half the space at another Barcelona hostel. Breakfast was OK, and actually the best we’d had on the trip so far: toast, jam, and terrible juice. There’s a really nice rooftop terrace to relax on and meet the other people staying there. They also offer free tours through Valencia, just ask for a tip.
