Hostal Solimar

The place felt completely run down, like what I imagine a remote hotel in the Sowjet union might have looked like. It was freezing at night because the heating didn't work, the blow dryer was falling apart, and check-in took more than 30 minutes. For only a little more money, you can find an acceptable place in this area.

The staff were helpful and friendly, the bedroom was very clean, and there was good air con and a little balcony. The location was fantastic too. People should judge this little hotel for what it is and what it costs. It's a hostel, not a 5 star hotel, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Badalona seemed friendlier and more welcoming to tourists than Barcelona. The location here is really good, and for the price it's a great deal, even though the rooms aren't fancy. The bathroom door drags across the floor, and the shower cable is damaged.

There are only basic facilities, with no food provided and no cooker in the shared kitchen, just a microwave, table and TV. The room TV had no English channels, but that didn't bother us since we were out all day and only used the room to sleep. The room was very basic but clean and comfortable, and the shower always had hot water. It's close to the shops and beach. We had a spacious balcony where we could eat and drink, looking over the apartments, nearby accommodation and little streets, with just a glimpse of the sea. The garden was lovely, with mature trees, turtles and places to sit. Staff were friendly. If you're after a budget stopover, this worked well for us.
