The double suite worked perfectly for us, especially if you’re traveling with more than one or two people. The beds were comfortable, everything was clean, and parking was easy. Rosa has clearly put a lot of thought into the hotel’s design and the little details, from the linens to the art. Breakfast was delicious, and she was really helpful with nearby restaurant suggestions. We only had one night at La Casona de San Pantaleón de Aras and wished we’d stayed longer. I’d absolutely recommend it for a quiet, restful break in Cantabria.

The hosts and staff were very friendly, and breakfast was varied and well looked after. The estate itself is nice, though the beach town is the main attraction. For a longer stay, we’d have missed having a bin in the room and a small fridge, especially since there isn’t much to do in the town.

We found this amazing hotel by chance while looking for a recommendation on TripAdvisor. From the moment we arrived, we loved the peaceful feel, the gardens where you can properly relax, and the tasty breakfast. The owner was lovely too, and told us how she and her husband came to be there. If you get the chance to visit, book at least three nights so you can settle into the atmosphere.

We chose La Casona San Pantaleón de Aras to get away from Bilbao’s crowds and city atmosphere, and it turned out to be a great choice. There’s nature all around, with birds singing, and the boutique hotel is full of thoughtful details. Rosa is a gracious host, and the hotel is baby friendly. Our room was spacious and breakfast was delicious. It’s also well placed for the sights we wanted to see, including Santillana Del Mar, Santander and La Rioja, all within about an hour. Call them directly to book and get a discount.

Cantabria is a beautiful region, and this is a lovely hotel to stay in. Rosa makes you feel very welcome, and it’s a comfortable place. Even little things like the laundry being done perfectly make a difference. A great base for visiting Cantabria.
