Finca El Cercado

We were 15 across two families, and Finca el Cercado made a lovely base for our Christmas and New Year 2023/4 gathering. Cristina was easy to reach and responsive to every request, and we’re all hoping to return in summer. The extra pavilion gave us another well-equipped kitchen and dining space, while the self-contained guest house was spacious and had pretty views from every window. The main house had room for everyone to relax and eat together, with picturesque views from the living and dining rooms. The kitchen was well equipped, and the washer and dryer made laundry convenient. Bedrooms and updated en suite bathrooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. Even as temperatures fell, the house stayed warm and cozy. There are hidden caves on the property that were a treat to explore, and vineyards, restaurants, historic towns, and hiking trails are easy to get to. It was a flawless experience for us.

We especially enjoyed the evening on the terrace with the host, who made us feel at home. The watchdogs were lovely company and stayed around us. The setting is beautiful, though a little remote, with plenty of space around the house. It also worked well as a base for several day trips to nearby cities and other places in the area.

The wine tasting was a highlight, with a fun game, tapas alongside a delicious selection of wines, and someone walking us through each one. We ended the evening exploring the historic underground wine cellar, a remarkable piece of history that added mystery to the elegant, authentically Spanish property. Cristina was a phenomenal hostess, arranging special activities including wine tasting and a full beekeeping experience, and she was friendly and fluent as a translator throughout. Getting transport for all 17 of us from Madrid airport to the property was really simple. This was one of the most incredible and memorable holidays I can remember, and I’d recommend the place to anyone looking for a trip to remember.

A beautiful, peaceful place for a retreat, with lots of pleasant walks and plenty of interesting sites to visit in the region. It suits a getaway with a partner, kids, or friends, and lets you enjoy Spain’s culture and outings while getting away from the noise. Cristina was extremely helpful.
