The best parts were the setting and the outdoor space. The place is in a lovely holiday area with camping, a beach and a nice atmosphere, woods behind it, a view of the lighthouse in front and beautiful sunsets. The large terrace has a hammock, table and chairs, and there’s parking right outside. The accommodation was very clean, and the kitchen had a fridge for self-catering. The host lives next door, which could put some guests off. It’s in an annex on the first floor beside the host’s house, reached through a metal gate into a separate residential area. The accommodation is basic and minimally equipped. We often had to ask for things like garbage bags, though the host provided them promptly. The bed is wooden with a hard mattress, the toilet has a wooden sliding door, and there was no second blanket, kitchen roll or wine glasses. There was only one mirror and a limited supply of toilet paper. Several things weren’t listed in the advertisement, including a hairdryer, shampoo, oven, air conditioning, oil and pepper, which added to the spartan feel. Hot water pressure was very low, making washing up difficult, and drinking water wasn’t available. Without a mosquito net on the patio door, plenty of insects came in, and ants got in through the tiles beneath the door to the garbage area. Internet went out several times during our three-day stay. Getting to the nearest shops and beach means a walk, and accommodation on the main road or directly by the sea would be preferable. The surrounding area is beautiful and inviting, but the basic accommodation detracted from the experience. Check-in was unnecessarily complicated: instructions came only by WhatsApp video, which seemed unprofessional. The host didn’t speak English, so we couldn’t communicate easily if we had questions, despite living next door.

This is a special, wonderful place to switch off. We’re staying in the cabin, and you can feel the love Harry put into building it. We’ve enjoyed his hospitality for three years now and will definitely be back.

Right in the heart of Caños de Meca, this wonderful place is close to both the mountains and the beach. The apartment has everything we need and is super quiet. Thanks to Teresa for being so kind.
